Milk owner pour milk on the drain – what ails Triplicane cattle owners !

தரையில் பாலை கொட்டி போராட்டம்  ~  felt sad on reading this.  Triplicane is a land of Sri Parthasarathi – different people have co-existed for ages.

In the last decade or so - the bovine menace in the streets of Triplicane has become unbearable, believe me, even for one who lived in the congested Nagoji Rao street nearer Samarao school for a short while.  Stray cattle, sometimes aggressive have threatened and harmed people, especially old aged.  Children are afraid of walking alone, hurriedly cross the roads in the fear of these animals. 

The Triplicane we knew of 1960, 70s, 80s was different – there were koshalas, cowhered and hundreds of cattle .. .. at Nagoji, opp to Kellet High School, there was this person at Sengalvarayan who had breeding bulls, at near NKT girls high school, at Venkatrangam lanes, Arimuthu lanes and more more places.  One could get fresh ‘cow milk or think buffalo milk’ of choice ! – the maadu would be walked along, tied before the house, pathiram shown to customer showing that it had no water, milk the cow and handover fresh milk – people bought buffalo milk too.  Jokes would be found in magazines on how so much of water gets added to milk.   There were black solid big buffaloes – reportedly Delhi murrah ones  –  capable of providing litres of milk more.   

Mid 1970s changed lives -  Aavin made a big entry taking away the share – people started lining up before Aavin booths – the bottles and later day milk sachets, became the staple source. Understand that aavin too is staggering with its competitors.   

There was a time when people were too loyal and would buy milk only from specified owner – what has happened – when did the gap became unbridgeable – are their individuals who buy milk from the local cattle owners – if not, how this happened ? – what pushed them away ? – was it the cost ? – was it the vagary of supply – or friendliness lost ? – cattleonwers should have pondered these – whatsoever it could be wasting milk by draining it could be symbolic but serves no purpose – none at all !!

-      and is there something the local residents could do – some effort to support these cowherds – can they start some little quantity at least

-      perhaps some may come forward, if the cattle-owners stop injecting their herds with hormonal injections on the street and stop producing chemical milk

-      none would like to keep the cows and buffalo away from our normal daily lives

-      only little effort of conciliation, compassion and friendliness required is what I believe.

-      Can there be newer efforts in storing, packing, delivering

-      Would people prefer fresh ones rather than pasteurised milk

-      Do people know that what they buy from aavin is neither ‘cow milk’ – nor ‘buffalo milk’ but admixture

-      It is homogenised too - Homogenization is the process of breaking down the fat molecules in milk so that they stay integrated rather than separating as cream. Homogenization is a purely physical process; nothing is added to the milk.

Bigger stronger Social service Organisations and caste associations of Triplicane including that of Yadava Sabha may have a role .. .. not many would know that the big Organisation housed opp to Hindu Sr Sec School – famously known as TUCS is more than a century old and was the frist consumer coop society.  Can it venture into milk vending organising these cattle owners or someone organises these people to form their own coop society – something needs to be done !

டீக்கடைகள், ஓட்டல்கள் மூடப்பட்டதால் வாழ்வாதாரம் போனதாக கூறி சென்னையில் பால் உற்பத்தியாளர்கள் தரையில் பாலைக் கொட்டி நூதன போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டனர்.

போராட்டம் : கொரோனா தொற்று தடுப்பு நடவடிக்கையாக தமிழகத்தில் 144 தடை உத்தரவு போடப்பட்டுள்ளது. காய்கறி, பழங்கள் போன்ற அத்தியாவசிய பொருட்கள் விற்பனை செய்யும் கடைகள், மருந்தகங்கள், ஆஸ்பத்திரிகள், பெட்ரோல் பங்குகள் தவிர அனைத்து கடைகளும் மூடப்பட்டுள்ளன. இந்தநிலையில் டீக்கடைகள், ஓட்டல்கள் மூடப்பட்டதால் தங்கள் வாழ்வாதாரம் பறிபோனதாக கூறி நூதன போராட்டத்தில் பால் உற்பத்தியாளர்கள் நேற்று ஈடுபட்டனர்.

வாழ்வாதாரம் பாதிப்பு : சென்னை திருவல்லிக்கேணியில் உள்ள மாட்டுத் தொழுவத்தில் நேற்று சுமார் 300 லிட்டர் அளவு பசும் பாலை தரையில் கொட்டி பால் உற்பத்தியாளர்கள் தங்கள் எதிர்ப்பை அரசுக்கு தெரிவித்தனர்.

இதுகுறித்து பால் உற்பத்தியாளர்கள் கூறியதாவது:-  சென்னையில் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பால் உற்பத்தியாளர்கள் உள்ளார்கள். தினமும் பசு மாடுகளில் இருந்து பெறப்படும் பாலை ஓட்டல்கள், டீக்கடைகளுக்கு வினியோகம் செய்து வருகிறார்கள். இந்த நிலையில் கடைகள் மூடப்பட்டதால் எங்களது வாழ்வாதாரம் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. பொதுமக்களும் பயம் காரணமாக எங்களிடம் பாலை பெற யோசிக்கிறார்கள். இதனால் எங்களிடம் உள்ள பாலை என்ன செய்வதென்றே தெரியவில்லை. மாடுகளுக்கு தீவனம் வாங்குவதற்கு கூட வழியில்லாமல் தவிக்கிறோம். எனவேதான் பாலை தரையில் கொட்டி போராடுகிறோம்.

அரசு உதவ வேண்டும் :  எங்களின் நிலைமையை உணர்ந்து ஆவின் மற்றும் கூட்டுறவு சங்கங்கள் மூலம் எங்களிடமிருந்து பசும் பாலை கொள்முதல் செய்ய அரசு நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும். அரசின் உதவியை எதிர்பார்த்து காத்திருக்கிறோம். வருமானம் இன்றி தவிக்கும் எங்களுக்கு அரசுதான் உதவ வேண்டும். இவ்வாறு அவர்கள் கூறினர்.

இதில் யாரெல்லாம் வெட்கி தலை குனிய வேண்டும் ?  என்ன தேசமிது ??  எங்கள் கிராமப்புறங்களிலே எல்லை காவல் தெய்வங்களும், கருப்பண்ண சாமியும், குற்றங்கள் நடைபெறாமல் காப்பார்கள் என்பது ஆழ்ந்த நம்பிக்கை. 

In the state of Tamil Nadu, Temples [and only Temples, no other places of worship] are administered by TN Government.  The money that the bakthas offer in the Temple hundi, does not belong to the Temple but to the Govt, which does not believe in Temples !!!

For many many decades now, the Hindu places of worship are administered through   Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department created by statue.  From 1991, no religious and spiritual leaders are involved in maintenance and administration of the Hindu Temples and Charitable Endowments. The act controls 36,425 temples, 56 mutts or religious orders (and 47 temples belonging to mutts), 1,721 specific endowments and 189 trusts ~ and how well they are run is known to everybody ! pathetic !!

Tamil Nadu Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency of the state of Tamil Nadu as is all over the Nation.  Idol theft cases were investigated by a small team of officials in CB-CID till the year 1980. During the year 1980 there was a sudden increase in thefts of Panchaloga idols. The thefts of such idols from the temples affected the sentiments of the local people. The Government accepted the proposal, constituted Idol Wing CID in 1983 reads its website.    At present Idol Wing CID is headed by DIG-Idol Wing and assisted by one DSP and 5 Inspectors of Police.

Suspended deputy superintendent of police Kader Batcha -- wanted in an idol theft case -- was nabbed from his hideout in Kumbakonam on Wednesday. According to the FIR, Batcha and sub-inspector Subburaj, who were with the idol wing CID of the Tamil Nadu police, seized three ancient idols worth several crores of rupees from two people in 2008 and sold them to idol smuggler Deenadayalan. Deenadayalan shipped the idols to international idol smuggler Subhash Kapoor. Police had earlier arrested Subburaj in connection with the case.

Batcha had been absconding for the last three months. He was produced before the additional chief judicial magistrate court in Kumbakonam and lodged in the Trichy Central Prison. A senior police officer said, "We will take him into custody for 10 days to know more about the theft."

Batcha's arrest comes days after inspector-general of police A G Pon Manickavel has been given full charge of the idol wing CID.

An administrative body that does not even know of the thefts of idols that people worship and a law enforcing body of whose high officials are involved in the theft ~ and a State that keeps watching Bigg Boss and other cinema related things, spending time on debating on every issue, speaking against the Govt.

Certainly does not augur well !!! – Sad is the state of affairs.  கருப்பண்ண சாமிதான் காப்பாற்ற வேண்டும் !! 

CID of State registers case against HR&CE officials for theft of idols from Temple

தீவு திடலில் நடக்கும் 'சுற்றுலா வர்த்தக பொருட்காட்சிக்கு' சென்று இருப்பீர்கள்.  அங்கே உள்ள பல ஸ்டால்ல்களில் பொது மக்களை கவர்ந்து இழுப்பது 'இந்து அறநிலையத்துறை' அரங்கம். 

கோவில்களை பராமரிக்க என அறங்காவலர்களை நீக்கி அரசாங்கத்தால் உருகாக்கப்பட்டது இந்த 'இந்து அறநிலையத்துறை'  ~ இதனுடைய முக்கிய நோக்கமே சில தனி மனிதர்கள் தங்கள் வசம் கோவில்களை கொள்ளாமல், திருகோவில்தனது  சொத்துக்களை பராமரித்து பரிமளிக்க செய்வதே !

அப்படி எனின் திருக்கோவில்களில் வரும் வருமானத்தை அரசு எப்படி தனதாக்கி கொள்ளலாம் ?  அறநிலையத்துறை அதிகாரிகள்  கார் வாங்கி பவனி வருபவதற்கா - புனித வள்ளல்கள் அறக்கொடைகளை உருவாக்கினார் ?  பொது மக்கள் இவர்களுக்காவகா உண்டியலில் காணிக்கை செலுத்துகின்றனர். ??  ~  திருக்கோவில்களில் இருந்து வாகனங்களையும், பெருமாளது உடைமைகளையும் வேறு இடத்திற்கு கொண்டு வந்து காட்சி பொருளுக்குவதற்க்கு இவர்களுக்கு உரிமை அளித்தது யார் ?  - மனம் வலிக்கிறது - இதில் அற நிலையத்துறை அதிகாரிகளே சிலை திருட்டிலும் பங்கு உள்ளவர்களாம் !! 

ஐயகோ !  இது என்ன வேதனை !!!!

The management and control of the temples and the administration of their endowments is one of the primary responsibilities of the State !!! says its website. [If so, does it handle the administration of places of other worship ?] A number of measures have been undertaken prior to the year 1925 for efficient control and supervision of the administration of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments says the website of HRCE

In the Act 1 of 1925, the Government constituted " Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Board" consisting of a President and two to four Commissioners nominated by the Government to function as a statutory body. Subsequently, Act 1 of 1925 was repealed by the Act 2 of 1927, which was followed by several modifications up to the year 1951. 

If the function is to administer a Temple, how can the funds of the temple be diverted to various other activities which have no relation to religion or that temple at all ? – Temples as great places of worship were built by philanthropists, Kings and subjects to eulogise Hinduism and Gods – now in the garb of HRCE – the revenue goes to the exchequer, revealing in the form of SUVs for officials and temple lands gets donated.  Who gives the right to authorities to remove the Vahanams and other paraphernelias of temple and keep them on exhibition elsewhere !! ~ but all these would pale when you read of complicity in idol theft .. .. no simple words of ordinary baktha – but reported in the mainline press including The Hindu and Times of India :

one’s heart would bleed !!!

According to the complainant – R. Venkatraman of K.K. Nagar in Chennai  [யார் இவரோ ?  இவர் நீடுழி வாழ்க !!] – five idols of Vinayakar, Pushpakarani, Valli, Theivanai and Chandrasekar Amman, which were with Sri Viswanathaswamy Thirukkoil at Keezhmanakkudi and the Vinayakar idol of Sri IdumbeswararThirukkoil at Srirangarajapuram were found to have gone missing in 2013.

“Though officials knew that the idols were missing, they deliberately didn’t disclose it. No complaint was lodged with the police,” the complainant alleged.

The idol wing CID of the state police has registered a case against 11 people, including seven Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment (HR&CE) department officials, in connection with the theft of six panchaloha idols from two temples in Thanjavur district, including Pasupatheeshwarar temple at Pandanallur near ThiruvidaiMarudhur. The priceless idols date back nearly 1,500 years, said sources, adding that this was the first time HR&CE officials have been booked in an idol theft case.

The Madras high court recently re-appointed inspector general of police A G PonManickavel as investigation officer in idol theft cases handled by the idol wing CID in spite of his being transferred as IGP, railways. Pon Manickavel, who now holds additional charge as investigation officer in the idol wing CID, and his team swung into action and managed to identify idol smugglers and those who helped them stealing the idols from the Pasupatheeshwarar temple, and Idumbeshwarar temple at ShriRangarajapuram, in Thanjavur district.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that HR&CE officials failed to bring the missing of the idols, said to be worth several crores of rupees, to the notice of their higher-ups. Inquiries revealed that K Kamaraj, executive officer of Arulmigu Shree Pasupatheeshwarar Temple in Pandanallur, noticed that idols of Vinayagar, Pushpakarani, Valli, Deivayani, Chandrasekar Amman of the Pandanallur temple, and a Vinayagar idol of Idumbeshwarar temple were missing in 2013. However, he failed to report this to his senior officers and gave a clean chit to the then HR&CE commissioner.

As the officer didn't even lodge a complaint at the local police station, he has been deemed to have been deeply involved in the case. In a report submitted before the Madras high court, the idol wing CID police officers said that they registered a case against 11 CE officials, including Gajendran, joint commissioner of HR&CE in Mayiladuthurai, Gnanasekaran, assistant commissioner of HR&CE in Kumbakonam, K Kamaraj, executive officer of Pasupatheeshwarar temple, K Raja, head clerk of the Pasupatheeshwarar temple, Sekar Gurukkal and JagatheeshGurukkal, and a temple employee, apart from the trustees of the Pasupatheeshwarar temple PasupathiPillai, ManoharPillai, Ramachandran and Saravanan.

Based on the complaint of R Venkataraman, 62, a resident of K K Nagar, the idol wing CID registered a case under the IPC Sections 457 (2) (trespass), 380 (2) (theft) and 202 (Intentional omission to give information of offence by person bound to inform). The idol wing team has started investigating into the missing of the stolen idols.

Tightening the screw on the Tamil Nadu idol wing police who are in a spot after reports of cops selling ancient panchaloka idols worth several crores of rupees emerged, the Madras high court on Thursday asked the wing's inspector-general why the erring officials had not yet been arrested. Kader Batcha, a deputy superintendent of police with the wing, who has been named as kingpin in the illegal sale of seized panchaloka idols is absconding while a sub-inspector of police, Subburaj, has already been arrested.

The present proceedings related to a public interest litigation filed by advocate Elephant G Rajendran seeking transfer of the case to a neutral agency for an effective and impartial probe.

Kanchi Seers acquitted ~ walks free in Sankararaman murder case

சுமார் 9 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மேல் நடைபெற்று வந்த காஞ்சிபுரம் சங்கரராமன் கொலை வழக்கில் குற்றம்சாட்டப்பட்ட காஞ்சி மடாதிபதி ஜெயேந்திரர், இளைய மடாதிபதி வியேந்திரர் உள்ளிட்ட அனைவரையும் விடுதலை செய்து புதுச்சேரி சிறப்பு நீதிமன்றம் இன்று  தீர்ப்பு வழங்கி உள்ளது.

The two seers of Kanchi Sankara Mutt, Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi have been acquitted…. Rightfully this should make Hindus happy……

The case relates to the murder of A. Sankararaman, manager of the Sri Varadarajaperumal temple in Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu that took place on September 3, 2004

The acquittal is for sure a huge relief to the pontiffs of Kanchi Sankara Mutt, Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi, and all the followers of the glorious Mutt.

The Puducherry sessions court this morning acquitted them in the sensational case of murder of a temple official in Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu. Besides the seers, arraigned as accused 1 and accused 2 respectively in the murder of A Sankararaman, Manager of the Varadarajaperumal temple in Kancheepuram district, 21 other accused were also acquitted by Puducherry Principal District and Sessions Judge C S Murugan. A total of 24 persons were made accused in the case, but one of them, Kathiravan, was killed early this year.

The judge held that the witnesses failed to support the prosecution case that the two Sankaracharyas — Jayendra (78) and Vijayendra (44) -- were part of a conspiracy to eliminate the temple official in September 2004. He also said the witnesses, including Sankararaman’s daughter, failed to identify the accused in the court. None of them identified any accused in the court and no incriminating evidence was made out against the accused, the judge noted.

Arrest during Diwali : The arrest of Jayendra Saraswathi on Diwali day in November 2004 in Andhra Pradesh and later his heir apparent, Vijayendra, came as a big jolt to the Kanchi Mutt and its followers.

The keenly-anticipated judgement was delivered in a packed court hall for which security was beefed up in and around the area.

The scars of the arrest will remain ever as the high seat of Saivaite religion was attacked and Hindus failed to rise as one in condemning.

The believers must have had total faith that their seers will do nothing wrong… that way this will ever remain a sordid episode… Jaya Jaya Sankara .. Hara Hara Sankara...

anything against Na Mo is right for some press

In what was highlighted at ‘Reality Vs Claims’ the Hindu of date pictorially covered the speech of a person – primarily because it was anti Narendra Modi.

Na Mo is anathema to The Hindu and some sections of the press and anything against him immediately qualifies as a fact and correct statement.

The report states that human rights activist Shabnam Hashmi  called for close scrutiny of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s claims, that his State is a ‘model for development’. Ms. Hashmi challenged the numbers presented in Mr. Modi’s campaigns

Every person and the person sure have the right to comment and hold opinion of their own ~ but to say that what is presented as official figure is incorrect and the person just because one is opposing Na Mo is factually correct betrays logic and clearly exposes the side where the newspaper is coloured

Today there is an article in Times of India titled ‘Priest promises jobs to 3 women, cheats them of 2L’  ~ though one can technically defend, this is one misleading caption………… Whosoever be it, anyone committing a mistake must be punished ~ more so, when crimes are committed by people whom the society consider to be pious, good at heart and as serving the society !!!

Sadly, Hinduism is under attack in the media and by many people ~ who throw stones without even caring to know the basics and for people like them, headlines like these are fodder….. this news can and could easily be misinterpreted to mean that some priest of a hindu temple had committed some serious harm……. Now first read the news item before forming any opinion…….

Times News Network : Chennai: A 35-year-old priest, who had cheated three women of several lakhs with promises of jobs in the central government, the state secretariat and under the ‘Amma thittam’, was arrested on Wednesday.

The priest, Ezhilarasan of Peravallur in north Chennai, was introduced to the victims through Rebecca of GKM Colony. She took Ezhilarasan to the houses of the victims in the same area to pray for their wellbeing. Once he came to know of their problems, he promised attractive jobs for them or their family members, claiming that he had a lot of political influence. His first victim was Sudarmathi, who was desperately looking for a job for her brother. He promised the youth a good placement in Southern Railway and took Rs 1.6 lakh and a one-sovereign gold chain from her, a police officer said. He similarly took Rs 60,000 from Saroja, with the promise of a job in a government hospital, and Rs 10,000 from a woman named Latha after telling her he would get her a job in a bank.

Believing him, the victims arranged the money by pledging their gold jewellery or borrowing from private financiers, said an investigating officer. “For a while, the victims did not suspect any foul play as he always sounded confident,” said a senior police officer. They lodged complaints with police only after he neither got them the promised jobs nor repaid the money. Ezhilarasan, who is married with three children, had been staying in Mathur since May. He is also suspected to have cheated job aspirants in other areas like Otteri. More complaints are likely to be lodged against the priest, police said.

Sources reveal that he was not employed in any of the Hindu temples….. English dictionary gives synonyms to the Father / Preacher in a Church as : Chaplain, clergyperson, cleric, curate, divine, ecclesiastic, elder,father confessor, friar,holy man, lama, man of God, man of the cloth, monk, padre, pontiff, preacher, rector,vicar, Bishop, Curate……………….

In Hindu temples the Pujari / Archagar is  commonly referred to as  ‘Priest’ in English media…….in Sanskrit / Hindu, they are Purohit / Pandits………

Rest is left to your imagination and understanding… !!!

Uttarakhand tragedy and Indian brand of Secularism

The scenes are moving – perhaps the reports are not accurate… the  tragedy at hills of Uttarakhand is assuming demonic proportions going by the reports.

There are many  heroes – some are unsung - topping that list for sure is our Army Jawans. Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), which is deployed along the Indo-China border, was the first to reach and initiate rescue operations in Uttarkhand’s Kedarnath Valley, the worst affected by the floods unleashed by the onset of monsoon rains and the cloudburst on June 16. They have been doing a great job in reaching out to the worst affected regions and evacuate people when all connections – roads and bridges – had been washed away in the deluge.

Sadly another tragedy struck – this time at Gaurikhand on the rescuers themselves… very sad to read the news of an IAF Mi-17 helicopter carrying 20 people crashing during a rescue mission killing all those on board. The tragedy that Uttarakhand is faced with is neither new to the country nor something that was unexpected.  There have been gross violations, mindless chopping of trees, playing with nature all the time….and doing nothing to conserve it.

On another perspective, politicians, right from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh downwards, have been singing paeans to our armed forces heroes who have been putting their lives at risk all the time.   In a  CNN-IBN panel discussion. Col Anil Kaul pointed to this as exemplifying the “platitudes” that politicians offer the armed forces in times of crises – without doing anything substantive once the crisis fades away. He said that once the crisis is over, we are a forgotten tribe – until the next disaster strikes.” In particular, Col Kaul drew attention to the fact that while the cricketers who won the Champions Trophy on Monday had been given a reward of Rs 1 crore each, the relatives of the armed forces personnel who perished in the helicopter crash.  

Here is a right perspective provided by Mr Subramaniam Swamy. : Of hundreds of Army personnel working in rescue operations, the Times of India reporters found a muslim chopper pilot .

They ask him "How does it feel like, rescuing Hindus ?" Now here is a question to all such reports and newstime editors.

Kashmir has been under siege for past six decades. After the Muslims drove out all Hindus and Sikhs in 1990, Kashmir is entirely Muslim in population. Any soldier who dies protecting these Muslims is either a Hindu or a Sikh. Did they ever go and ask them in Kashmir.. .. "How does it feel like rescuing Muslims" ?

That is India’s brand of secularism…. Hindu bashing all the time
